Our History.
We’ve been in the business a long time, nearly 50 years!
In that time, we’ve seen huge growth; we’ve employed hundreds of people, moved location multiple times to suit our growing workforce, and even survived the 2008 credit crunch and, most recently, the 2020 lockdown!
1978
Kevin and Wendy Marsh form Marsh Finance (Lancs) Ltd incorporated to provide credit for drapery items.
1988
We officially become Marsh Finance Limited.
1993
Andrew Marsh joins the business as an IT Director after graduating with a degree in IT.
1996
Business growth has meant 250+ employees across 11 branches in the North of England.
Half the business was sold to Shopacheck, and the remaining half brought back into Head Office in Heywood, Lancashire.
2000
Kevin and Wendy promptly retire, and Andrew starts motor finance lending from their dining room table.
First premises above a café in Rochdale and take on the sales staff. Operating in the North West only.
2003
Growth allows us to move to larger premises and start a national sales strategy.
2008
Despite the credit crunch, we continued to lend and grow.
Marsh agree to run a motor finance company on behalf of a third party – All In One Finance, a division of Carcraft
2010
Marsh provide outsourced services to manufacturers and banks.
2017
7 years of growth and investment means moving to our current purpose built office, Crossfield Mill.
2020
Despite Covid-19 and Lockdown, we maintained service levels and kept helping people realise their car dreams.

Change and social responsibility have always been at the forefront of Marsh’s core values, and we are incredibly proud to have demonstrated this in 2021 by achieving this goal.
This is only the first step for us as a business in our journey to contributing to a sustainable future. In 2022, we will continue this work with a goal of reaching carbon zero.
Marsh Finance are now one of the only carbon neutral motor finance lenders in the UK, and we hope that this will inspire a change in the industry and encourage our partners and competitors to take similar action over the next year.
To achieve this goal, we invested in carbon credits in the following projects:
Maisa Amazon REDD+ Forestry, Brazil
Gold Standard Waste Corn to Biomass Energy, China
Our investment in the above projects has contributed towards:
28,752 hectares of forest protected
Protected habitat for high conservation value species
69,908 tCO2e fossil fuel derived emissions avoided each year
