All these changes have likely added to the already clunky weight of an X2, and you would think this would limit handling and performance. However, updated suspension components ensure the X2 has the traditional BMW feel and doesn’t lose any excitement brought on by added weight. With prices starting from £38,000, the X2 is certainly premium, but when you drill down into the details, the price starts to make more and more sense.
Dacia Duster
The SUV theme continues with one of the most popular cars of the last decade. The Dacia Duster is a beacon of practicality, with performance and efficiency hallmarks of the Romanian manufacturer. The return of one of Dacia’s best-selling models will be welcomed by many, with a new look and updated technology throughout. A bulky front and rear give the car an off-road feel, with robust features and solid boot space providing the means to travel with ease. A new sustainable approach by Dacia has seen the introduction of wheel archers being made with recycled materials, further cementing the Duster as a car at one with nature. Inside, angular features are consistent with the Dusters of yesteryear. Mazda MX5
We finish this list with the iconic MX5. A roadster unlike many others, the MX5 is a cult hero amongst car enthusiasts primarily due to its fantastic handling ability and performance. A true roadster in nature, past MX5s have always been seen as the ultimate fun you can have in a car. The question, therefore, remains: is the new MX5 as good? The look has remained, with the somewhat strange antenna on the rear driver side still having a prominent place. Slightly more aggressive styling provides a slight variance to previous models, with a cleaner and more modern interior to match. An infotainment system is a great addition, and when combined with much softer and more comfortable seating, the new MX5 certainly offers an improvement on its last instalment. With a similar engine to the last MX5, you may be wondering if there are any significant differences. This is best answered by the addition of a unique limited-slip differential to the rear. This innovative addition allows you to get the power to the floor quicker and really feel the road underneath you. This is the greatest strength of the new MX5, but is it enough to move away from the existing model? Whatever you feel the answer is, one thing can’t be mistaken: the MX5 is still one of the best driving experiences you can have at a very reasonable price.
